I adore this time of year. From the spicy smells of citrus, cinnamon, and trees, to the familiar music and old movies - I can't get enough. For those of you who knew my mom, you understand where I get this love. Every Thanksgiving night we would kick of the Holiday season by watching Miracle on 34th Street (the original black and white), and the next day we would head to Santa's Forest to pick out the perfect Christmas tree. This year, Dave and I continued that tradition. We put a fake tree in our Christmas Tree Window right after Thanksgiving, but we were a little late getting our real tree. I am happy to report that tonight, we visited Santa's Forest and picked out the perfect tree over a cup of hot cider with my grandpa and aunt & uncle.
While I am so excited to start decorating our tree, a part of me is so sad. I miss my mom. I miss my grandmas. This time of year is just not the same without them...maybe I'll wait to decorate the real tree until I'm in a more festive mood...
