time

At KMC, I was constantly busy. I would work from around 6am-6pm, then come home and read for the next day. As busy and time consuming as my first rotation was, I LOVED it. I loved working with the unique patient population, my coworkers, and my fellow interns. Right when I started to feel at home at KMC, it was time to move on to my 2nd rotation: Kaiser. At first, it was very difficult adjusting to a less time-consuming schedule, but now, I think I've fully adapted. While the actual rotation may not be as fulfilling as my experience at KMC, I am really enjoying having time to spend with friends and family. I've taken up walking, biking, and reading, and I've been enjoying things like random weekend getaways. For instance, last weekend, Dave and I randomly decided to head to the beach house for a weekend away with Jake and Kathleen. We had such a great time - I didn't even have to work on projects or read about disease states or drugs! It was fantastic. Here's me, Jake, and Kathleen on the beach...Dave is taking the picture- there's just too much of a height difference to take one of all of us without having a 5th person take the picture...

Now that Dave and I are looking forward to (hopefully) moving into our own home in the next couple of weeks, and I'll be going back to KMC (YAY!), I know we'll be busy and things will be crazy. I will miss all the extra time I have now, but then again, I always function best when life is completely hectic.

One of my favorite things about being home is spending quality time with the people we love. Tonight, even as I watched my husband's excitement turn to disappointment over the Dodger game, I couldn't help but think how nice it is to be sharing in the ups and downs of favorite teams with people we love. Peter and Toni, thank you for opening your home to us, again.

Fight On!

Since birth, I have always purchased a Trojan Football game program from the same man. He's become a symbol of SC football over the years, with his crazy hats and shaky hands. Apparently, he was a Dodger program man before my time, but I've always known him to be the SC program man. Imagine my concern when during the last 2 games of last season, he was not at his usual spot. Now, you have to understand that he is not a young man, and the shaking was getting to be pretty bad. Needless to say, I was worried that I wouldn't see him yet again before the game on Saturday. Well, I am happy to report that the "GET YEEERRRR SOOOUUVVAAANEEEEEEERRR PROGRAAAAM" guy is back, selling programs in front of gate 21! It was a great day for Trojan football!
And ditto to this girl, too!

Happy Birthday Dave!

After a rough week of football upsets, we decided to celebrate Dave's 24th birthday with friends, family, and food. In my usual fashion, I didn't utilize my camera as I should have, but here are some highlights -
