Ahhh, Kev...
This weekend, Dave, Peter, Toni and I headed for the beach for a weekend of doing not much of anything. It was glorious. The highlight of our weekend (at least mine and Toni's) was walking on the beach and running in to an old friend. When Toni first started coming to the beach house with my family, we would always sneak up the steps of Kevin Costner's beach home, just down the beach from my family's home, but we were never brave enough to make it to the top of the steps. We always joked about stopping by to say hi to Kev, but it never actually happened. Well, we can now say that we officially spoke with Kevin himself on the beach. Here's how it went down:
Toni and I were walking past a super cute little family - little boy playing in the water with his dog, mom holding her baby in one of those slingy things, and dad admiring his family - when I realized that this man in hat and sunglasses was Kevin himself. I squeezed Toni's arm as we walked by, and gave her a look like "IS THAT WHO I THINK IT IS??". Toni looked back and confirmed that, yes, we just passed Kevin and his family on our walk. We continued to walk until we reached the point on the beach, then turned back around to catch one last glimpse of the star. As we passed, we were stopped in our tracks when a very familiar voice asked us what time it was. Yes, that's right - Kevin himself asked us what time it was, and luckily, I was wearing a watch.

After giving him the time, we told him we were huge Waterworld fans and invited him and the fam over to dinner at our place, where we took the above picture. We hung out all evening and became best friends. (Ok, I made the last part up...we didn't actually want to act star-struck during his family time, so we didn't say anything. At all. Just gave him the time and walked away. Like he was just a normal person.) It was still exciting, though :)

hair
I'm thinking of cutting my hair. It takes WAY too long to do anything to. AND it gets in my face when I'm sleeping even though I put it in a pony. AND it requires more hair product. AND it's just not summery, AND let's face it - it's been quite warm these past couple of days.
BUT - I like the long pony. I enjoy being able to sweep all of my hair into one simple pony without needing extra aid. AND I enjoy the ease of bangs with long hair....
I realize this post is about nothing really, and it's not significant. Or entertaining. But with all sorts of grown-up decisions to be made (i.e. what to do with my life once I've got that pharmD), it's kind of nice to just stress over the length of my hair and forget about life decisions for a little while...

disneyland
Every February, the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) holds their annual meeting. This year, it happened to be at DISNEYLAND! Normally, Dave tries to avoid these ultra-pharmacy events, but he couldn't resist the temptation that is Disney. So, we spent the weekend going to the park in between pharmacy meetings and had a BLAST! I always forget how much fun Disneyland is - we need to start going more often :)
So we're not great at taking pictures, but this is one of us on the Disneyland train...even though we could have taken this picture in our back yard and no one would have known the difference. We really need to work on our picture-taking.

welcome nola
This past weekend, my family came from miles around to invade the little island of Lopez in celebration of my grandpa's love for nola ~

Lopez holds a very special place in the heart of my family. Each summer we'd all try to get together for a week or two on the island. Lately, we haven't been able to make the trip all together, so this weekend was like a quick reunion of sorts. We spent our time together remembering our trips over the years. It's amazing how much we've all grown and changed since our last trip. I so wish I had pictures of the last summer we all spent together on Lopez, but unfortunately, those pictures are most likely burried in the "Library of Congress" as Peter F. calls it. Anyway, sorry for the lack of older pictures...
